Former CIA director John Brennan suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin might have installed chips in his presidential limousine during Trump’s recent meeting with him.
In an appearance on MSNBC’s “Briefing with Jen Psaki,” the former CIA chief criticized Trump’s handling of the significant summit, expressing concerns that the Secret Service had thoroughly checked the vehicle, especially after Trump sat in the back seat.
“The fact that he was on the beast, the president’s limousine – I certainly hope that the Secret Service conducted a thorough sweep for any small microchips that could have been hidden in the car or any other vehicles,” Brennan remarked.
Brennan has previously commented on Putin’s past with the KGB, characterizing the Russian leader as a skilled manipulator.
When asked about the “optics” of the summit, he noted, “It’s clear that Putin has been exceptionally confident since his arrival and how he was greeted.”
“International pariahs and war criminals were essentially welcomed by the US president on American soil,” he added. “I could sense that Putin felt very at ease.”
During the summit, Trump greeted Putin on the red carpet at a US air force base, even applauding as the Russian representatives approached. The two shook hands, and Putin joined Trump in his limousine to talk about the war in Ukraine.
Brennan labeled the scene as “shameful,” suggesting Trump seemed unaware of the dynamics at play throughout the day.
“Ultimately, it’s Trump who set up this meeting and invited Putin onto our territory,” he remarked.
“What I witnessed today was embarrassing. It’s concerning for the US leader to exhibit such behavior,” he concluded.
