Trump Issues Warning to George Soros
On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump made a pointed remark regarding George Soros, a billionaire known for his contentious political contributions. Trump’s comments come as Soros has invested tens of millions into left-leaning initiatives through his Open Society Foundation.
At 95 years old, Soros seems to remain active in promoting progressive policies, shifting some responsibilities to his son, Alexander Soros.
Trump expressed his disdain, saying, “Soros and his group of psychopaths have caused great damage to our country! That includes his crazy West Coast friends.”
This appears to be in response to reports of Soros’s alleged ties to groups involved in recent U.S. riots. “George Soros and his surviving radical son should be charged under RICO for supporting violent protests,” Trump asserted, referencing his desire to hold these individuals accountable.
He added, “We don’t intend to let these madmen tear America apart. We refuse to give them the opportunity to ‘breathe’ and be free.” Trump concluded with a stern warning: “Be careful, we’re watching you!”
A spokesperson for Soros’s nonprofit addressed Trump’s claims, asserting that the Open Society Foundation does not fund violent protests. They emphasized their commitment to human rights, justice, and the protection of democratic principles.
The spokesperson remarked, “We represent the fundamental freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, including the freedom of speech and the right to peaceful protest, which are hallmarks of a vibrant democracy.” The foundation has previously supported initiatives like “Free DC,” which aims for community change and activism against Trump’s policies.
In a rebuttal to Trump’s characterizations, the spokesperson clarified, “We do not pay people to directly train or coordinate protesters. All OSF grantees must comply with the law, and we hope that our grantees will uphold their shared commitment to human rights, dignity, and non-violence.”
As for Soros and his son, neither has publicly commented on the matter.
