Minneapolis Church Shooting: Shooter Identified

A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday when a shooter opened fire at a Minneapolis Catholic church, resulting in the deaths of two children aged 17 and 10. The suspect, identified as Robin Westman, was reportedly 23 years old.

Sources, including the Minnesota Star Tribune, confirmed that Westman is believed to be the shooter involved in this horrific event.

In a social media post, conservative commentator Harrison Crank mentioned that court documents revealed Westman changed their name from Robert to Robin in 2020, expressing a desire to identify as a woman.

KARE-TV further clarified Westman’s identity, stating he had previously been known as Robert, now transitioning to Robin.

According to reports, Westman grew up in Litchfield, Minnesota. Notably, the shooter’s mother had worked at Annunciation School, where the attack took place, but left her position in 2021.

Westman was last seen visiting the school prior to the shooting, purportedly amid preparations for the upcoming school year.

Before the attack, the shooter uploaded a video to YouTube that depicted shooting targets related to the church and included disturbing images and comments, such as “Where is your God?” and threats against political figures. The video showed Westman handling various firearms, seemingly mocking as he displayed his weapons.

In his distressing remarks, the suspect expressed remorse, saying, “I regret everything. I didn’t seek life. You didn’t seek death.” He also appeared to display a manifesto, hinting at ideological motivations possibly linked to his actions.

In the course of the attack, Westman allegedly barricaded church doors using wooden planks and began firing into the building. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara characterized the shooter as “co-sick,” reflecting the gravity of the situation.

Westman was ultimately shot and killed by police during the incident.

This tragic event brings to mind similar violent occurrences, such as the Covenant School massacre earlier this year, where a shooter attacked a primary school in Nashville.

This is an evolving story.
