Minneapolis Church Shooting: Insights from a Classmate
A woman who used to be classmates with the shooter in the Minneapolis Church incident shared her concerns about him. Josephina Sanchez, now 23, recalled knowing something was off about Robert Westman, later identified as Robin Westman, who tragically shot and injured numerous children during the attack.
She told KSTP that, as a child, she sensed instability in Westman. “When you see something, it never really leaves your heart,” Sanchez reflected. She recounted an alarming moment when Westman would raise his hand and spout disturbing remarks like “Praise Hitler.”
Who is Robin Westman?
There’s a disturbing element to this incident: a video associated with Westman was removed from YouTube after the shooting. This footage displayed notebooks, bullets, and handwritten notes with unsettling messages. Authorities have yet to confirm the video’s authenticity.
Speaking about the situation, Sanchez expressed her belief that there’s a spiritual battle at play, saying, “I think we need Jesus. I needed him.” She wished she could have spoken up sooner but felt small and uncertain as a child.
Police reported that Westman had no prior criminal record, and all the firearms used in the shooting were legally obtained.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara condemned the act, emphasizing the horror of targeting innocent children and worshippers, calling it incomprehensible. This was, without a doubt, a calculated act of violence against the most vulnerable.
