NYC Woman Released After Threatening Trump on Social Media
A woman from New York City, who made alarming social media posts about killing President Trump, was unexpectedly released last week by a judge appointed during the Obama administration.
Natalie Rose Jones, 50, was freed on August 27 under electronic monitoring and required to see a psychiatrist, as indicated in court documents.
This surprising decision came just days after US Magistrate Judge Moxilaudapaya had previously denied her bail due to the serious nature of her threats against the president.
In a lengthy Facebook post dated August 6, Jones expressed her intentions, stating, “Today, I told the FBI in literally five states I was willing to destroy him and kill this Potus by cutting off his trachea with Liz Cheney and all the affirmations that exist. Let’s deal with this and restore the quietness of the country.”
In another post, she urged Defense Secretary Pete Hegses to “arrange the arrest and removal ceremony of Potus Trump as an American terrorist from 10pm to 10pm on Saturday, August 16th, 2025.”
Authorities raised concerns about her statements beginning on August 2. During an interview on August 15 with Secret Service agents, Jones stated she would “kill” if given the opportunity, indicating a readiness to carry out her “murder mission” with sharp objects.
Her social media activity frequently tagged federal agencies, including the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Department of Homeland Security.
Jones informed Judge Boasberg, appointed by Obama in 2011, about her history of schizophrenia and mental health issues, although she claimed she had never exhibited violent behavior. Her situation was highlighted in court documents.
Jones’ arrest was prompted by new US attorney Janine Pillo for Washington, D.C., who noted, “Threatening a president’s life is one of the most serious crimes and one for which we pursue prosecution vigorously. Don’t make mistakes—justice will be served.”
Currently, Jones is awaiting trial on a felony charge related to her threats against the president.
