Trump Welcomes Polish President with Military Tribute
President Donald Trump greeted Polish President Karol Nowrocky at the White House, accompanied by eight fighter jets flying over an elevated road. This unusual display served not only as a show of strength but also paid tribute to the Polish pilots who lost their lives during training for an airshow on August 28th.
The four F-16 jets from the National Guard performed a “Missing Man” formation in honor of Major Masiedi “Slab” Krakouan, head of the Polish Air Force’s F-16 Tiger demonstration team. This formation is a poignant air salute, where one aircraft departs from the group in a gesture of respect for a fallen service member.
A spokesperson from the Trump administration noted that four groups of F-35 jets also participated in the event at the White House, symbolizing the strong collaboration between the two nations.
The United States plays a crucial role in supplying defense equipment and logistics to Poland. Just last month, the State Department approved a significant sale of $1.85 billion in F-35 equipment to Poland. Polish pilots began their training in Arkansas earlier this year, flying with these advanced fighter jets.
The meeting between Trump and Nowrocky is particularly timely, occurring amidst ongoing tensions and negotiations involving Russia and Ukraine, both of which share borders with Poland. Nowrocky had previously supported Polish elections held earlier in 2025.
In a statement, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly highlighted the significance of the meeting, saying, “President Trump looks forward to welcoming President Nowrocky to the White House, who recently won his historic election in Poland. The impressive overpass captures the special relationship between the two countries, while honoring the memories of brave Polish pilots whose lives were tragically lost.”
