Man and woman face charges related to the Scottish axe girl case

Police Scotland has charged several individuals following an incident involving a young girl in Scotland who became the focus of viral online attention when she was seen wielding an axe.

The incident, which took place in late August, involved a 12-year-old girl who was charged with possession of a weapon amid rumors that she had been pursued by an immigrant man. Footage surfaced online showing her swinging both an axe and a large knife.

Subsequent testimonies from both the accused immigrants and witnesses have offered conflicting narratives about what transpired on St. Anne Lane in Dundee.

As investigations continue, the police announced additional charges.

“They are relieved that the truth is now being recognized,” was a sentiment expressed in their statements.

According to Police Scotland, they have made the charges following extensive inquiries connected to the reported incident on August 23, 2025, around 7:40 p.m., which will be forwarded to the prosecutor.

The police statement further mentioned that the girl, previously charged with “weapon possession,” will be referred to the Scottish Children’s Reporter’s administration, the body that determines if state legal intervention is necessary.

“The public is advised against spreading misinformation or speculating about the incident,” concluded the statement.

The new charges seem to support the allegations reported by witnesses, as well as claims made online by those asserting to be in contact with the girl’s family.

A 21-year-old Bulgarian immigrant, Fatos Ali Dumana, stated, “If I harmed the girl, why didn’t the police arrest me? They didn’t do anything to me.”

Dumana argued that he was seen on CCTV footage at the store, denying any wrongdoing and asserting he was attacked, while being insulted as an immigrant.

Meanwhile, a 13-year-old TikTok user named Maya, who claims to have been present, stated that the situation escalated after a strange man made inappropriate remarks toward her younger sister. In the ensuing conflict, her sister was injured, leading to a concussion.

Maya mentioned that Laura, another girl involved, wielded a weapon for protection.

So far, neither testimony has been corroborated by further evidence from witnesses, CCTV, or police accounts. However, an independent reporter claims to have concrete evidence regarding the newly filed charges.

Aesthetica, an online journalist, has claimed contact with Laura’s family and is assisting them in fundraising efforts, noting that the family feels relieved to have their names cleared now.

A hospital report provided to the media detailed Ruby’s treatment for head trauma sustained during the altercation.

Despite the families’ hesitance to speak publicly due to fear of backlash, they reportedly feel grateful to have the truth acknowledged.

As of now, the fundraiser has raised about $120,000.
