IRS Officer Criticizes President Trump's Attempts to Stop the Targeting of Conservatives: 'What a Joke!'

A colleague recently criticized President Donald Trump’s agenda after facing backlash for allegedly targeting conservatives.

In a LinkedIn post, Republicans expressed their concerns regarding an IRS official identified as Holly Paz.

Wilkinson commented on a post by conservative activist Chuck Flint about Holly Paz, a former aide to Lois Lerner, who led the IRS division overseeing the Tea Party during the Obama administration, according to reports.

Flint, who heads the IRS Alliance for Accountability, highlighted that “Paz’s work could be targeting conservative businesses with penalties and dismantling them.” He stated that they were sending a message about bureaucratic misconduct within the IRS.

In her reply, Wilkinson called the situation absurd, pointing out that IRS officials misrepresented their effectiveness. According to her, the IRS lacked audits for years, failing to identify genuine fraud or violations in the sectors they examined.

She remarked, “This unit, like many others, was managed under different leadership. If they are truly concerned, they should bring these issues before Congress, especially since the GOP holds a majority, making it feasible.”

Back in June 2013, a report noted that the IRS had internally announced Holly Paz’s appointment, despite the controversy surrounding her involvement in prior audits.

It was reported that both Democrats and Republicans on the House Oversight Committee were puzzled to learn that IRS officials were allowed to engage in audits related to targeting conservative groups.

Wilkinson, who has defended her stance since then, included details in a LinkedIn statement.

In her statement, she claimed, “This is about gerrymandering, unsettling issues like Qatar airplanes, and indulging in corrupt practices regardless of party affiliation.”

She reiterated examples including questionable memorabilia and foreign transactions involving children.

One IRS official noted a lack of similar behavior from previous administrations and remarked that it was “ridiculous” to accuse Paz of leading these investigations.

In August, Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent held his inaugural meeting with the IRS as part of the Trump administration’s effort to reform the agency.

During this meeting, he emphasized that his priorities included enhancing revenue collection, ensuring privacy, and improving customer service.

Following a Breitbart article, there were suggestions that Bescent might continue serving as a representative for the IRS to dismantle party-influenced practices and revert policies from the Biden era.
