Teens Arrested After Violent Carjacking in DC

Two teenagers were arrested following a carjacking attempt in Washington, D.C., which left the victim severely injured. The incident involved a 15-year-old boy and girl from Maryland, who now face additional charges stemming from a brutal attack on Edward Coristine.

The pair had already been charged with unarmed carjacking, and now they are also looking at charges of assault and robbery, according to reports.

During a recent court hearing, the judge decided to release the female teen under a strict 24-hour curfew. Meanwhile, the male defendant has been sent home to his parents after a previous release.

Due to his age, the male suspect’s identity hasn’t been disclosed.

On the night of the incident, police say one of the suspects approached Coristine, who was standing next to his car around 3 a.m. At some point, they allegedly attacked him and attempted to steal the vehicle.

Though officers were able to apprehend the two 15-year-olds, they mentioned that they are still searching for other individuals connected to the case.

Coristine, a 19-year-old former staff member of Doge, gained national attention when he posted images of himself injured on social media. Former President Trump later commented on the violence, expressing concern for the young man and indicating that if the city does not take swift action against crime, he might advocate for federal oversight of the local government.

Trump emphasized the need for decisive action, suggesting that the city’s law enforcement capabilities must improve to ensure the safety of its residents.
