The View Discusses Trump’s Actions Regarding National Guard

On Tuesday, Joy Behar, co-host of “The View,” expressed concerns over President Donald Trump’s decision to send the National Guard to U.S. cities, implying it may be a tactic to hinder future elections. She suggested that there could be restrictions on Americans’ voting rights.

“This is just a pretext to cancel the next election,” Behar asserted, adding, “I think that’s a possibility.”

During the discussion about Trump’s deployment of troops to cities such as Portland and Chicago, the panel voiced their disapproval. The president indicated that he might invoke the Insurrection Act to deploy federal troops, especially after a judge prevented sending National Guard troops to Portland.

Whoopi Goldberg commented, “It’s about making a statement. They really believe they can operate however they choose.”

Behar emphasized the importance of voting rights, stating, “If they stop us from voting, that’s the only right that people hold dear.”

Goldberg responded to inquiries about the state of voting rights in America, stating, “What distinguishes us from many other countries is that our votes count. We know that they do.”

She added, “I think people will find a way to vote. One thing I know about Americans is that they resist being told what to do… They will not accept a dictatorship,” she elaborated.

California’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom and Illinois’ Democratic Governor JB Pritzker have also voiced fears that Trump might attempt to sway future elections.

Newsom commented on the situation, saying, “We are highlighting how Donald Trump is trying to rig the midterm elections,” sharing concerns that there might not even be an election in 2028.

Pritzker recently suggested that Trump is contemplating a military “invasion” to gain control of the 2026 midterm elections. He pointed out, “Their aim is to prevent the 2026 election or to assert dominance over it. All he needs to do is claim that there’s an issue with the election, and if permitted, he can send in the military and usurp power.”

Additionally, some liberal media outlets have begun speculating that Trump may seek to manipulate or even cancel the upcoming midterm elections.
