A man from Florida, Jonathan Linderknecht, who is suspected of igniting the devastating Palisades fire, is reportedly being stalked by a neighbor with troubling behaviors. Allegations reveal that she attempted to exploit him sexually.
Charges against Linderknecht, 29, were brought forth in March, following his alleged role in what has been described as the most costly wildfire in U.S. history, which tragically claimed 12 lives and destroyed numerous homes in Los Angeles.
Linderknecht has claimed that his neighbor enticed him to her Hollywood apartment, where she engaged in drug use and watched explicit BDSM-themed content, at one point trying to forcibly remove his clothing before fleeing.
The same neighbor later apologized, but the legal troubles didn’t stop there. The lawsuit continues to allege that she followed him into his home, forced entry, and again attempted to strip him of his clothes.
Linderknecht reported the second incident to the police, resulting in the neighbor’s arrest. However, upon release, she reportedly continued to stalk and harass him.
Neighbors have accused her of stealing his mail and even subjecting him to bizarre acts, such as linking his cellphone to a television to stream pornography.
“The defendant loiters outside the plaintiff’s apartment, knocking at all hours and lingering in shared spaces… Other residents have noted similar harassment from her,” states the complaint.
At that time, Linderknecht was already dealing with a separate legal matter. He was alleged to have caused a motorcycle accident that seriously injured the rider on January 7, the same day the fire broke out, according to court documents.
Reports indicate that Linderknecht was driving for DoorDash when he took a sharp left turn in his Volkswagen, colliding with a motorcyclist. The injured rider is said to have sustained lasting damage, including neurological issues, which may be permanent.
The crash occurred shortly after midnight on January 1, six months prior to the fire at a popular location near Pacific Palisades.
Though the fire was initially extinguished, it reignited and turned into a massive blaze due to strong winds a few days later. Federal investigators noted that Linderknecht, originally from Melbourne, Florida, had been repeatedly watching a rap music video featuring arson themes, expressing feelings of “despair and anguish” just before the incident.
