Marlboro School Board Postpones Meeting Amid Scandal
The New Jersey State Board of Education has decided to delay its upcoming meeting, citing “safety” concerns linked to a texting controversy involving some board members and certain parents. This decision comes as Vice President Chad Hyett faces backlash related to a group chat that reportedly targeted members who support MAGA.
Brian Cohen, the President of the Marlboro School Board, initiated the postponement for the meeting set for November 11, pointing to unspecified issues regarding “safety and security.” Interestingly, not all board members agreed with this choice, with some expressing opposition, as reported.
In the midst of this, parents are gearing up to hold a peaceful protest, rallying support through social media.
This development follows a tumultuous six-hour session during the last board meeting, where parents vocally called for the resignation of two board members, including Hyett, due to their involvement in a controversial group chat about fellow member Daniel Bellomo.
The group chat, disturbingly named “ThisBitchNeedstoDie,” featured derogatory remarks directed at Bellomo, coming from Scott Semaya, a school board candidate who retracted his candidacy shortly after the messages surfaced.
One particularly crude message described Bellomo in an offensive manner, allegedly captured in a photo of Semaya’s phone as he was typing. Additionally, Mitesh Gandhi, whose wife Aditi is an incumbent director, was also reported to have taken part in the group chat.
This incident received national coverage after its revelation by a news outlet, prompting criticism even from Senator Ted Cruz, who labeled it as “wrong” and “evil.”
Among the reactions from parents, one suggested that the cancellation of the meeting revealed a sense of shame or fear among board leaders regarding community concerns. Another parent expressed that the situation is deteriorating further.
Meanwhile, local police are continuing their investigation into intimidation allegations against Bellomo.
