Dad in Michigan reportedly threatened to shoot an elementary school over his child missing out on a snack.

A father in Michigan has been arrested after making violent threats to an elementary school because his child allegedly didn’t get a snack during snack time, according to authorities.

David Scott Jr., 43, was detained on Wednesday outside Pleasant View Elementary School in East Point after he directed threats at his child’s first-grade teacher in front of other parents, students, and school staff. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office reported this incident.

Scott indicated that he would return the next day with intentions he described as “buzz the place,” a term that implies threats of gun violence, as explained by Lt. Alexander Horisch of the East Point Police Department.

As it turns out, there was no snack time for any of the students that day, according to Holish. He mentioned that lunch followed recess, but the new teacher had decided to remove any extra time for snacks.

“This wasn’t a situation where a specific student was singled out. It was the entire class that didn’t have snack time,” he noted.

A subsequent search at Scott’s residence revealed several pieces of ammunition.

School officials mentioned they have increased police presence on campus for safety and that students would remain indoors during recess. Meanwhile, Scott remains in custody.

Macomb County Attorney Peter J. Lucido stated, “There is absolutely no excuse for threatening violence against a school or its staff, especially over something as trivial as snacks in the classroom.” He emphasized their commitment to take all threats seriously to protect students, teachers, and the community.

Scott faces charges for possession of ammunition as a prohibited person, intentional threats of violence directed at the school, and disorderly conduct. He has been identified as a repeat offender, having previously been convicted of similar offenses, though specifics haven’t been shared.

After being arraigned on Thursday, his bail was set at $150,000. The court has mandated a mental health evaluation and ordered that he wear an ankle monitor upon release. Additionally, he is barred from contacting the school, according to police.

His next court appearance is scheduled for November 5th.
