White House Tours to Resume with Holiday Decorations

On Friday, the White House announced that it will restart public tours showcasing First Lady Melania Trump’s Christmas decorations after the East Wing’s demolition.

The tours were put on hold in August as renovations began to make way for a new $300 million ballroom, which the president plans to construct.

“Public tours will resume on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Guests will have the chance to admire the history and beauty of People’s Hall,” stated the first lady’s office.

“To celebrate the holiday season, the Capitol will showcase White House Christmas decorations during all December tours. Each room will feature carefully designed decorations, personally selected under First Lady Melania Trump’s guidance.”

Visitors can book tours through Congressional offices, which will allow access to the basement and ground floor of the Executive Mansion.

In the past, guests entered via the East Wing and walked through a now-demolished corridor that was festively decorated and a favorite spot for photos. Close by, the movie theater room was used as a coat check during holiday parties.

Melania Trump engaged in Christmas-related preparations throughout her husband’s first term. However, leaked recordings from former aide Stephanie Winston Wolkoff revealed her reservations regarding the first lady’s traditional responsibilities.

She was quoted saying, “I’m working… I’m busy with Christmas stuff. Who cares about Christmas stuff and decorations? But I have to do it, right?”
