A candidate for the Cincinnati City Council was arrested for allegedly breaking into the home of a Republican politician who had previously taken out a restraining order against him. Reports indicate this former politician was quite frightened by the incident.
Kevin Farmer, 39, is said to have been caught on video smashing a garage window to gain entry into the residence of Rosemary Oglesby Henry, a candidate for Ohio’s 1st Congressional District, on Halloween.
Oglesby-Henry informed the authorities that she and Farmer had a past relationship “many years ago,” and characterized him as an “abuser,” noting the restraining order she filed against him.
Interestingly, Oglesby-Henry herself faced arrest in September after allegedly pointing a gun at her ex-boyfriend in her home, a claim she denies, asserting that he was illegally squatting in her property.
Farmer has a history of legal troubles, having been convicted of menacing. In July, he was arrested for domestic violence against Oglesby-Henry. However, she later dropped the charges against him and secured a restraining order instead.
In the latest incident, police reported that they had to instruct Farmer to leave Oglesby-Henry’s home “numerous times” before he complied and finally opened the door.
Oglesby-Henry provided law enforcement with footage showing Farmer forcibly entering her home and wandering in the kitchen, as outlined in the arrest report.
Farmer now faces charges for theft and violating a protective order, both felony offenses. He is currently being held in the Hamilton County Detention Center on a $60,000 bail and will need to wear an ankle monitor when released.
Although he had been running for one of the nine Cincinnati City Council seats without party backing, he announced his withdrawal just days before his arrest. Nevertheless, his name will still appear on the ballot.
Oglesby-Henry is in the race for Ohio’s 1st Congressional District, currently held by Democrat Greg Landsman. She will contend against former CIA officer Eric Conroy and dentist Stephen Urbeck in the Republican primary set for 2026.
In a separate case from late September, she was charged with aggravated assault after an encounter with Farmer, claiming he was “squatting” at her home following his earlier arrest.
Oglesby-Henry stated, “He is an abuser and I will not back down. I will use the law in the right way to protect women and get my life back on track.”
She further asserted her innocence, claiming, “I categorically deny this false allegation. I cooperated fully with law enforcement, including consenting to a search of my home. No firearms were recovered. I intend to contest the facts in court.”
