Investigation Launched After Loaded Gun Magazine Found on Frontier Airlines Flight
A multi-agency investigation is underway following the discovery of a loaded gun magazine on a Frontier Airlines flight arriving at a Georgia airport, authorities have reported.
A traveler aboard an Airbus A320 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport found the magazine, which contained 10 hollow-point bullets, near seat 7A around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
According to the police, the flight was preparing for a return trip to Cincinnati when the magazine, marked with the initials “KH,” was found. Authorities quickly coordinated with the TSA, Department of Homeland Security, Frontier Airlines, and the Atlanta Police Department’s K-9 unit.
The plane was evacuated, and a thorough search was conducted. Passengers were also rescreened by the TSA.
After the search, officials reported no additional concerns, and the flight safely departed by 7:56 p.m. The FBI was informed of the situation.
Frontier Airlines later indicated that the loaded magazine belonged to a law enforcement officer who had previously been on the same aircraft. The airline confirmed that the ammunition was handed over to the Atlanta Police Department, with the officer requesting the items’ retrieval.
However, an official from the Atlanta police noted that this claim had not yet been independently verified by investigators.
Commenting on the unusual incident, traveler Terry Foster expressed surprise, stating that while he has heard of many flight delays and cancellations, he had never encountered a situation quite like this one.
