Trump Allies Blame Biden for Recent Shooting
Alina Habba and Tom Homan, allies of former President Trump, expressed their views on Sunday regarding the Biden administration’s immigration policies, linking them to a recent incident where an Afghan national allegedly shot two National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C.
Habba, who is the acting U.S. attorney for New Jersey, stated, “This crime shouldn’t have occurred. It was avoidable. This administration is focused on removing illegal aliens. Those who come here to commit crimes against Americans should really—well, they need to leave our country. We don’t want you here.” She emphasized on “Sunday Morning Futures” the need for accountability.
She mentioned that Rahmanullah Rakanwar, the 29-year-old suspect in the shooting, would face a trial that is expected to be “swift and heavy,” especially after the D.C. Attorney Jeanine Pirro upgraded the charges from assault to first-degree murder.
Habba also noted her frustration, saying, “This shouldn’t happen,” while pointing fingers at what she called a failure of the previous administration’s open border policies.
Meanwhile, representatives for Biden’s team have not responded to requests for comment from various outlets.
Regarding the events leading to the shooting, it has been reported that Rakanwar drove from Washington state to carry out what was described as an “ambush-style” attack, using a .357 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver, as detailed by the Associated Press.
Homan chimed in, criticizing immigration loopholes under Biden’s leadership, asserting these had contributed to the incident. He mentioned that during Biden’s administration, over 10.5 million illegal immigrants approached the border, excluding a significant number from various programs.
Homan expressed concern about the lack of records on many individuals entering the country, particularly from places like Afghanistan, stating, “It’s hard to vet someone.” He further indicated that hundreds of thousands of unknown individuals are now in the U.S., presenting a national security risk.
In a bold statement, he declared, “This is the biggest national security failure in U.S. history under the Biden administration, and thankfully we had Trump cleaning things up.”
