Minnesota Government Employees Accuse Walz of Ignoring Fraud Warnings
Approximately 500 employees from Minnesota’s government are claiming that Democratic Governor Tim Walz has disregarded their repeated alerts about significant fraudulent activities related to aid programs aimed at the Somali community.
Officials from the Department of Health Services have suggested that Walz has retaliated against those who attempted to expose wrongdoing within these programs.
A group of state employees has been vocal for several years about instances of fraud and theft affecting aid programs. They’ve been trying to raise awareness among the public, including Walz, about these issues. Recently, they articulated their frustrations, stating that not only did Walz ignore their concerns, but he also penalized them for bringing them to light.
In a post from November 29, the group asserted, “Tim Walz is entirely accountable for the extensive fraud in Minnesota.” They noted that their earlier attempts to inform him about the fraud were met with a negative response.
They emphasized, “Tim Walz has made every effort to systematically retaliate against whistleblowers and downplay reports of fraud through intimidation and surveillance. Instead of collaboration, we face backlash, leaving us feeling vulnerable and wondering where we can turn for support.”
The group accused Walz of stripping the Legislative Audit Office of its authority, allowing him to continue misconduct without scrutiny while targeting whistleblowers who attempted to call attention to these issues.
Concerns about Walz’s administration are not limited to the actions of whistleblowers, especially given findings that indicate some of Minnesota’s financial aid has allegedly funneled into terrorist organizations in Africa.
Investigations have revealed that Somali immigrants may be diverting millions in taxpayer funds to support al-Shabaab, a known terrorist group.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent stated recently that his department is examining potential misallocation of Minnesota tax dollars to al-Shabaab due to neglectful management by both the Biden Administration and Governor Walz.
Bessent remarked, “At my direction, @USTreasury is probing claims that mismanagement might have diverted Minnesota taxpayers’ dollars to al-Shabaab. Under the leadership of @POTUS @realDonaldTrump, we’re acting swiftly to ensure that taxpayer money does not underwrite global terrorism. We will update the public as the investigation moves forward.”
This fraud is reportedly widespread, affecting not just the Minnesota Department of Human Services but also various welfare and assistance programs.
A notable case involves an organization called Feeding Our Future, operated by Somali immigrants in Minneapolis, which allegedly secured $250 million in child food assistance funds from the state.
Moreover, tens of millions have been misappropriated from autism treatment programs, with another $550 million being siphoned from Minnesota’s coronavirus relief initiatives.
Additionally, the “Feeding Our Future” scheme led to over $250 million in aid intended for vulnerable children being fraudulently taken by certain members of the Somali community.
DHS officials criticized Walz, declaring, “Essentially, Tim Walz is untrustworthy, demonstrates a lack of ethics and integrity, and has failed to take responsibility for his actions. He often blames broader political issues for his shortcomings while misleading the public about budget surpluses. The reality is, Minnesota had no actual surplus; federal funds were mixed into the budget, which appeared healthy but were misallocated to bolster leadership roles for his associates.”
