Trump Grants Pardon to Texas Democrat Henry Cuellar, Indicted After His Criticism of Biden’s Open Border Policy

Trump Announces Pardon for Rep. Cuellar

On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump declared that President Joe Biden’s Justice Department will extend a pardon to U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) and his wife, Imelda Cuellar. This announcement comes after the couple was indicted on bribery charges last year.

Trump shared the news on Truth Social, along with a letter from the Cuellar daughters requesting clemency. In his message, he asserted that the charges against the Cuellars were politically driven.

For years now, the Biden administration has used the justice system against political adversaries and dissenters. A prime example of this occurred when “Crooked Joe” employed the FBI and Justice Department to target members of his own party after Congressman Henry Cuellar stood up against open borders and the border crisis under Biden. They pursued both Henry and his wife Imelda simply for being honest. This is un-American, and I’ve always said that the Radical Left Democratic Party poses a significant threat to democracy. They will do whatever it takes to destroy anyone who opposes their far-left agenda, which, if left unchecked, could ruin our great nation.

Trump conveyed to Cuellar that “the nightmare is finally over.” He went on to announce a “full and unconditional pardon” for both Henry and Imelda, suggesting that Cuellar should rest easy knowing the ordeal has concluded.

According to Breitbart News, the Biden Justice Department accused the Cuellars of accepting over $500,000 in bribes from an Azerbaijani energy firm. The indictment from May 2024 followed a search warrant executed at Cuellar’s Laredo residence more than two years prior.

The letter from Cuellar’s daughters, Christina and Katherine, pointed out that their father’s break from the Biden administration, especially regarding border issues, might have kickstarted the fraud investigation.

We also think that our father’s independence and integrity played a role in this whole situation. He has never shied away from speaking his truth, especially in protecting the people of South Texas and their security against the previous administration’s policies. President Trump, you once expressed your belief that the charges were unjust, and in a private moment at a White House picnic, you referred to my father as “a good man.” Those words meant a great deal to me. They serve as a reminder that in tough times, honest individuals recognize true character.

Christina and Katherine urged Trump to either dismiss the case outright or grant a complete pardon.

“We kindly ask that you show mercy and compassion toward our parents by either dropping this case or granting them a full and unconditional pardon,” they wrote.
