White House Press Secretary Critiques CNN During Briefing
During a recent briefing, White House press secretary Caroline Levitt expressed strong criticism towards CNN’s Caitlan Collins for not holding former President Joe Biden accountable regarding unfavorable economic statistics from his time in office.
When Collins questioned Levitt about the economic situation under President Trump, Levitt responded, “Caitlan, I just hope you’ll cover this more. The evidence suggests that the economy has improved and is looking much brighter than it did under the previous administration.”
Levitt pointed out several positive economic indicators, noting that, “Inflation, as measured by the overall Consumer Price Index, has decreased to an average of 2.5%. Additionally, real wages for workers have risen by around $1,200, and gas prices have dropped in almost all states.”
She further mentioned, “There is significantly more media attention on this matter now compared to the past. My predecessor stood at this podium claiming there was no inflation at all.”
Later in the briefing, when asked whether there might be changes regarding CNN’s ownership, Levitt directed her comments back at Collins, reaffirming that the president’s recent comments about CNN’s potential sale and its new leadership align with his experiences with CNN reporters during the briefing.
“I think it’s evident from how he interacts with them,” Levitt stated. “Ratings are, well, they’re down. I believe the president thinks new ownership could be beneficial for the network.”
She concluded by reiterating that while the president respects the competing networks, she had no further comments on the matter.
