The U.S. Marshals Service is now involved in the search for actor Timothy Busfield after a warrant was issued for his arrest in New Mexico related to serious charges of child sexual abuse.
Officials from the Albuquerque Police Department confirmed they are collaborating with the Marshals to locate the “West Wing” actor and bring him into custody regarding these alarming allegations.
“The Albuquerque Police Department is working with the U.S. Marshals Service to apprehend Mr. Busfield,” stated spokesman Gilbert Gallegos.
At present, it remains unclear when authorities might execute the arrest.
Busfield, who is 68 years old, is sought on two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor, along with one count of child abuse.
The arrest warrant indicates that he is accused of engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct with 11-year-old twins back in 2024 while he was directing the Fox series “Cleaning Women.”
One of the alleged victims reportedly recounted that the abuse began when she and her brother were just 7 years old.
The investigation into Busfield’s actions started in November 2024, following a report by a physician at the University of New Mexico Hospital regarding claims of sexual abuse and grooming.
Initially, the Albuquerque Police Department opted not to press charges against him, but reports suggest that the case will be reopened in September 2025 after one child shared their experience with a counselor and pediatrician.
In the warrant, it is also mentioned that Busfield allegedly encouraged the children to call him “Uncle Tim” and would tickle them.
During a phone call with investigators in November, Busfield acknowledged having “physical contact” with the twins while working on “Cleaning Women,” but stated, “I don’t remember those boys.” He added, “If it actually happened, I don’t remember it. Tickling isn’t unusual for me.”
In a conversation with police, he mentioned that the lead actress of “Cleaning Women,” Elodie Yung, suggested the twins’ mother was seeking “revenge” over their exclusion from the final season of the show.
The investigation into the charges continues.
Busfield, with over 700 credits in both television and film, is widely recognized for his roles in “The West Wing” and several other projects. He has been married to actress Melissa Gilbert since 2013, although they have no children together.
In November, Gilbert took to Instagram to speak out against child sexual abuse in response to comments made about convicted abuser Jeffrey Epstein. Importantly, she has not been implicated in any wrongdoing.
