Trump Sends Tom Homan to Minnesota Amid Protests

President Trump announced that he is dispatching Tom Homan, the border czar, to Minnesota due to ongoing protests affecting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.

This news was shared by the president on Truth Social on Monday morning.

“Tonight, I’m sending Tom Homan to Minnesota. He may not be from the area, but he knows many of its residents and has a good rapport with them. Tom is tough yet fair and will report directly to me,” the president stated.

Additionally, he mentioned a significant investigation into welfare fraud in Minnesota, claiming it’s linked to the violent protests happening in the streets. The amount involved exceeds $20 billion.

Caroline Leavitt noted that Homan will oversee ICE’s operations in Minnesota, focusing on apprehending criminal illegal aliens. He will also contribute to the investigation into the fraud that has allegedly siphoned billions from Minnesota taxpayers.

In his message, Trump also highlighted that the Justice Department and Congress are monitoring Rep. Ilhan Omar, saying, “The Department of Justice and Congress are paying attention to ‘Congressman Ilhan Omar,’ who fled Somalia with nothing and allegedly now possesses over $44 million.”

The post followed a previous message from Trump, urging Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, among others, to collaborate with the administration to enforce immigration laws.

  • He asked that Governor Walz and Mayor Frey turn over all illegal immigrants in state prisons to federal authorities for quick deportation.
  • He urged state and local law enforcement to extradite illegal immigrants caught by local police.
  • He called for local police departments to aid federal agencies in detaining illegal immigrants wanted for crimes.
  • Lastly, he requested Democrats to partner with the federal government to protect citizens by expediting the removal of criminal illegal aliens.

President Trump also called on Congress to end sanctuary cities, reiterating that “they are the root cause of many of these issues.” He stated, “America’s cities should only be safe havens for law-abiding citizens, not for criminal illegal immigrants who violate our laws.” He reinforced that the calls for action are “rooted in common sense.”

Concluding his remarks, he emphasized that the Trump administration is prepared to cooperate with Democrats on critical issues to ensure safety across the nation.
