Accused Psychosurgeon Charged in Double Murder

Michael McKee, a 39-year-old vascular surgeon from Illinois, is accused of hiding outside his ex-wife’s home in Ohio for weeks before he allegedly shot her and her current husband, according to alarming new court documents.

Surveillance footage captured McKee driving near the residence of Monique and Spencer Tepe on December 6. He reportedly entered the property, inspecting the house before leaving “several hours later” after watching the home closely.

Then, on December 30, McKee is said to have returned, sneaking inside and fatally shooting Spencer and Monique.

McKee was married to Monique for two years before their divorce in 2017. It’s been noted that during their marriage, the couple had engaged in some unsettling activities, like a stakeout while watching a Big Ten Championship football game.

Prosecutors contend that Monique left the game at halftime, returning to her hotel feeling upset about McKee’s presence in her life. That incident seemed to highlight the tension and fear she had regarding her ex-husband.

Monique’s family described her marriage as emotionally abusive, with friends recounting disturbing tales of her suffering at McKee’s hands. They told police he had forced her into unwanted sexual situations, strangled her, and even threatened her life, claiming he would always find her, even indicating he might buy the house next door.

According to prosecutors, McKee traveled around 525 miles from Rockford, Illinois, to the Tepes’ home. Surveillance footage showed his vehicle near the property multiple times leading up to the tragic incident, which police say took place around 3:50 a.m. and was premeditated.

Additionally, records indicate that McKee left his cellphone at a clinic in Rockford. No activity was noted from December 29 until after noon on December 30, raising suspicions about his whereabouts during that time.

Police managed to track a silver SUV linked to McKee’s previous address to the hospital where he worked. He was apprehended on January 10 at a Chick-fil-A not far from there, as per court documents.

After being extradited to Ohio, McKee was charged with four counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated robbery. He was booked into the Franklin County Jail and has pleaded not guilty.

If convicted of the double murder, McKee could face life in prison without the chance of parole.
