Joe Rogan Declines Nomination for Golden Globe
Joe Rogan has recently voiced his thoughts on the Golden Globes, sharing that he turned down the opportunity to be nominated in the podcast category because he didn’t want to pay the associated fees.
During his podcast, he explained that the organizers required a $500 application fee for submission, which he found unreasonable. “A lot of people ask, ‘Why wasn’t Joe Rogan nominated for a Golden Globe?'” Rogan mentioned, “I didn’t submit.” It seems he felt the fee was just for the paperwork, ultimately leading to his decision against participating.
Despite not receiving a nomination, “The Joe Rogan Experience” still ranks as one of the most popular podcasts globally, often topping charts on platforms like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube. Rogan emphasized that, in his view, audience engagement is far more significant than awards. “I can’t say I didn’t win. I’ve been number one for six years in a row,” he stated.
Interestingly, the award went to Amy Poehler’s podcast “Good Hang,” which faced backlash online. Critics pointed out that Poehler’s podcast had only been running for less than a year compared to others in the category.
Defending the award, Poehler commented, “I think it was good. I won. I’m sure someone will like it. If it doesn’t, I’ll just pass it on.” This raises questions about the criteria used for the nominations and whether newer shows deserve recognition over long-established ones.
Other nominees included “The Mel Robbins Podcast,” “SmartLess,” and “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard.” Notably, “Call Her Daddy,” hosted by Alex Cooper, was also in the running, featuring high-profile guests like Michelle Obama and Kamala Harris.
