President Trump recently indicated that investigators are making significant headway in the kidnapping case of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie.
While speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Trump mentioned that a suspect might soon be arrested, showing optimism about the investigation’s progress.
When asked whether any suspects had been identified, he replied, “Yes, it could be definitive,” hinting at possibly new developments.
He further emphasized that investigators have “very strong” leads and expressed hope that “we might get some answers fairly soon.” It seems he was underscoring a resolution rather than just a search, which is quite important in ongoing cases like this one.
“A lot has happened in the last few hours, especially regarding this terrible situation,” he noted, reflecting a sense of urgency.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office has yet to respond to requests for further details on the case.
Just a day earlier, reports surfaced about authorities considering a potential ransom note linked to Nancy’s kidnapping, although specific details about it weren’t disclosed.
Nancy, who is 84 years old, went missing after she failed to attend a church service on Sunday.
She was last seen around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when she returned home after dining with her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, and her daughter, Annie Guthrie. Investigators suspect she was abducted while sleeping.
On Monday, officials declared Nancy’s home a crime scene. There were also reports of a “possible ransom note” affecting the case, leading the Pima County Sheriff’s Office to collaborate closely with the FBI.
The FBI has been actively involved, reiterating its offer of up to $50,000 for information that could lead to Nancy’s recovery or the arrest and conviction of those responsible for her disappearance.
