Unexpected Heroes in the Dodgers’ Victory

One of the best parts of sports is when the most unlikely players step up as heroes.

For Max Muncy and Miguel Rojas, that was the case during the Dodgers’ triumph over the Blue Jays in their second consecutive World Series last November.

In the decisive Game 7, Muncy broke through with a 373-foot solo home run in the eighth inning, narrowing the gap to just one run. This boosted the struggling Dodgers and gave them fresh energy.

Rojas, who’s usually praised for his defensive skills, became a household name for his unexpected offensive performance. He delivered a crucial solo home run in the top of the ninth. Later in that same inning, he made a fantastic catch on a hard-hit ball and helped keep the game tied at four with a hit that scored Isaiah Kinner-Falefa.

Then, in the 11th inning, Will Smith launched a solo home run, leading the Dodgers to a 5-4 victory and securing their third championship in five years.

As spring training kicked off at Camelback Ranch in Arizona, Dodgers fans warmly welcomed Muncy and Rojas as they stepped onto the practice field.

They’re recognized as vital parts of the Dodgers’ success, and the fans will surely remember their contributions fondly.
