Rep. Tlaib’s Bold Gesture at State of the Union

During the State of the Union address, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat from Michigan, made headlines by sporting a round button that proclaimed, “F— ICE,” aimed at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. She also displayed a message that read, “Stand with the Survivors and Release the Files,” which seems to connect to material concerning Jeffrey Epstein. Other members of Congress were seen echoing this message as well.

Tlaib was seated next to Rep. Ilhan Omar from Minnesota, who is also part of the progressive caucus often referred to as the “Squad.” They voiced their discontent during the president’s speech and reportedly left it before it concluded.

In light of President Trump’s ongoing efforts to tighten regulations on illegal immigration, Tlaib, along with some other politicians, is advocating for the disbandment of ICE. “ICE has no place in Michigan,” she remarked in a statement earlier this month. “It is an unaccountable and violent agency that subjects our communities to fear and brutality every day.”

Furthermore, Tlaib expressed grave concerns about the actions of ICE agents, claiming they’ve detained American citizens in public without regard for the well-being of immigrant communities and in violation of due process rights and numerous laws.
