During a visit to Corpus Christi, Texas, President Trump highlighted the successes of his energy policy, citing lower gas prices, higher oil and natural gas output, and increased liquefied natural gas exports.
He spoke to longshoremen at the port, with oil tankers visible in the background.
“On my first day in office, I declared a national energy emergency, lifted the export embargo imposed by Mr. Biden, and told the hardworking people of Texas to prepare for the future,” he said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
“Since then, U.S. oil production has risen by 600,000 barrels a day, natural gas is at a record high, and gasoline prices in Corpus Christi are currently just under $2.30,” he continued.
He mentioned that during a recent Iowa visit, he encountered prices as low as $1.99 and $1.85.
“We’re seeing an unprecedented energy boom in America, and this port is right at its heart,” he asserted.
Trump remarked on the significant funding he had secured for ports during his presidency, contrasting that with Biden’s attempts to slash that funding after taking office.
“Today, for the longshoremen, the energy workers, and the people of Texas, we have a president who truly cares about our nation, who will stand up for it, and who has your interest at heart,” he stated.
The president noted that liquefied natural gas exports have jumped 37% over the past year, reaching “the highest levels in U.S. history.” He added that crude oil exports have risen significantly during his administration.
Trump pointed out that the U.S. has processed “80 million barrels of oil” from Venezuela since capturing the former dictator Nicolas Maduro in Operation Absolute Resolve.
“For the good of both nations, we will refine our oil here in the U.S. and in Texas and distribute it globally,” he explained. “We’ll conserve some for ourselves, share some with them, and in turn, they’ll earn more than they ever did.”
“We will assist in rebuilding Venezuela, which has faced tremendous hardships, and in doing so, we will also benefit. That’s the way it should be,” he concluded.
