Reza Pahlavi Urges Iranian Forces to Dismiss Current Regime
On Saturday, Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s last shah, called for the country’s military, police, and security forces to turn against the “failing” Islamic Ayatollah regime amid escalating tensions involving the United States and Israel.
In a statement, the exiled crown prince referred to a “decisive moment” as President Trump initiated a significant military operation alongside Israel targeting Iran’s missile capabilities and leadership.
Pahlavi emphasized that this military action should not be viewed as an attack on Iran or its people but rather as a “humanitarian intervention” aimed at the Islamist regime and its oppressive tactics.
He stated, “Despite the help coming in, our ultimate victory rests with us. We, the Iranian people, will see this through. The time to return to the streets is approaching.” Pahlavi has resided in the U.S. since 1978, following the overthrow of his father, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, during the Islamic Revolution.
He urged Iran’s military and security forces to prioritize the people over the regime, which he described as having “held the homeland hostage” through suppression and violence. “You pledged to defend Iran and its citizens, not the Islamic Republic and its leaders. Join the people and help facilitate a peaceful transition, or you will go down with Khamenei and his faltering regime,” he warned.
Many supporters view Pahlavi as a potential leader should the Islamist regime fall. He directly addressed Iranians, expressing his “ultimate goal” of reclaiming the nation.
Amid ongoing military activity, he advised caution, urging citizens to “stay at home, remain calm, and prioritize safety” for the time being.
“Be prepared to return to the streets for decisive action when the time is right, and I will inform you,” he noted.
Pahlavi mentioned his active role in organizing recent protests via social media, promising to continue that engagement. “Please follow my updates through social and satellite media. If internet or satellite connections are interrupted, I’ll rely on radio to keep in touch. We are nearing our goal of victory and hope to unite soon to reclaim and rebuild Iran,” he stated.
He also reached out to President Trump, acknowledging the courage of the Iranian people in the face of severe repression and violence. “We ask you to take all necessary precautions to protect civilian lives. The Iranian people are natural allies of the free world, and we deeply appreciate your support during these challenging times,” he conveyed.
