Supporters of the Chinese Communist Party have voiced their opposition to the Trump administration and Israel’s military actions against Iran. They played a role in organizing protests set to take place in New York City and across numerous U.S. cities on Saturday.
Neville Singham, a technology entrepreneur and accused CCP advocate, along with other party representatives, has become a prominent backer of various far-left organizations involved in the “Stop the War with Iran!” initiative. Demonstrations are expected in locations like Times Square, Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, and about 70 other cities nationwide.
The coalition behind these protests includes groups such as People’s Forum, Palestinian Youth Movement, CODEPINK, Black Alliance for Peace, Democratic Socialists of America, ANSWER Coalition, National Iranian American Council, 50501, and American Muslims for Palestine, as stated in their announcement.
“President Trump’s unprovoked and illegal attack on Iran is an act of war that threatens to cause unimaginable death and destruction,” the coalition claimed.
“However, the people of this country reject the concept of another endless war, and we’re determined to take to the streets to make our voices heard.”
A report from the State Department to Congress earlier this week connected left-leaning nonprofit organizations like Code Pink and People’s Forum to Chinese influence efforts.
This report on Countering Foreign Information Operations asserts that China is “dispersing propaganda through influence campaigns conducted by nonprofit organizations such as Code Pink, People’s Forum, and entities linked to what’s known as the Singham Network.”
The “Singham Network” is a nonprofit entity funded by Singham, whose activist spouse, Jodi Evans, co-founded Code Pink and leads the People’s Forum based in New York City.
Singham, an American living in Shanghai, reportedly collaborates closely with Chinese media agencies and finances their propaganda globally, according to a 2023 report.
Protests against the Trump administration also took place in Washington, D.C., on Saturday. Notably, these demonstrations were already scheduled prior to President Trump’s announcement about the U.S. and Israel’s military strike on Iran.
The People’s Forum and its partners have also been involved in anti-Israel protests following the Hamas attacks in Israel on October 7, 2023, as well as pro-Maduro demonstrations after the former Venezuelan leader’s capture by U.S. forces in January.
Singham faces accusations of fostering domestic unrest and supporting sympathetic elements of the CCP by funding the ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) coalition.
