Trump’s Plans for Continued Action Against Iran
President Donald Trump has laid out additional strategies for ongoing military operations against Iran, asserting that the mission is progressing “ahead of schedule” and pledging to further “dismantle” the regime.
“We never thought it would escalate to this extent. We’ve damaged nearly 90 percent of their missile capabilities,” Trump stated in a recent interview. He noted that the United States had taken control of numerous Iranian missile and drone production facilities, emphasizing that military actions were “intensifying more than anything we’ve seen since World War II.”
Satellite imagery has proven vital in assessing the impact of these operations within Iran.
While Trump didn’t provide a specific timeline for concluding what he termed “the excursion,” he insisted that the U.S. had “virtually unlimited ammunition” at its disposal.
The president also mentioned the U.S. readiness to escort vessels through the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the protection of oil shipments, especially as Iran’s navy has been implicated in a number of attacks on commercial shipping in the area.
In light of the chaos, oil prices have surged. Trump suggested that U.S. presence in the Strait would increase pressure on Iran this week.
As casualties among American forces rise and Iran finds ways to retaliate, Trump seems to be cautious about quickly wrapping up the conflict. “We’ve inflicted significant damage already, and rebuilding will take years,” he remarked, adding that further actions against Iran are anticipated soon.
This military initiative has led to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, whose son has now been put forward as the successor. Trump has criticized this choice in recent comments.
The new supreme leader has promised that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed throughout the ongoing conflict and has warned neighboring countries to remove U.S. military bases from the region.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump asserted that Iran’s military capabilities have been effectively neutralized. “The navy is gone, the air force is gone, and everything else has been destroyed,” he remarked, alluding to potential future actions.
After unsuccessful nuclear talks with Iran, Operation Epic Fury was initiated by the United States and Israel, with Trump citing it as a basis for the current military efforts.
