Luke Grimes Faces Backlash After Moving to Montana
Luke Grimes, famous for portraying Casey Dutton in *Yellowstone* and its spinoff *The Marshalls*, is encountering some unanticipated criticism after relocating from Hollywood to Montana.
Speaking with Joe Rogan, Grimes shared that his transition to the Big Sky State wasn’t exactly seamless. In fact, his departure from Los Angeles has sparked some anger among residents.
“A lot of people left because of your show,” Rogan pointed out during their conversation.
Grimes confirmed, admitting, “That’s true. Yeah. And they’re not happy about it.” He recounted a visit from friends from California where, after a hike, he found ‘go home’ written in the dust on his car. “People feel really weird about that. That’s why I don’t tell anyone exactly where I am because they get really mad.”
The actor continued to explain how such tensions have even impacted his day-to-day life. “I can’t go to that bar anymore. That idiot is in the bar, so it’s like he can’t wait to start a fight with me. I don’t know what to expect.” It’s not exactly a comfortable scenario for him, to say the least.
Despite the backlash, Grimes made it clear that moving to Montana was a deeply personal decision for him and his family. At the premiere of *The Marshalls*, he talked about why he and his Brazilian model wife, Bianca Rodriguez, opted to leave Hollywood behind.
“I go there three or four months out of the year, and whenever I’m done filming, I come back here. It was more like leaving home than coming home,” he said, expressing his affection for Montana.
Grimes, who has one son, Rigel, noted that their fondness for Montana developed gradually. “It was just a gear change that happened slowly over a few years. Then my wife and I just fell in love with this place and decided to live there,” he elaborated.
As he returns to screens as Casey Dutton in Taylor Sheridan’s *The Marshalls*, Grimes takes on a role that fuses his skills as a cowboy and a Navy SEAL. The character joins an elite group of U.S. marshals tasked with delivering justice in Montana while navigating the personal costs of such a responsibility.
