Trump cautions Iran against targeting the Qatari liquefied natural gas plant again

Trump Issues Warning Over Iran and Qatar LNG Facilities

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to express a stern warning: if Iran targets Qatar’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure again, the U.S. will respond decisively against Iran’s South Pars natural gas field.

He stated, “Israel, upset over recent events in the Middle East, launched a significant attack on the South Pars gas field in Iran. It was only a small part of the whole setup that got hit. Regrettably, Iran was unaware of this incident or its implications,” Trump noted in his post.

Trump continued, saying, “There will be no more attacks by Israel on this crucial South Pars gas field unless Iran chooses to strike Qatar, which is quite innocent in this scenario. In that event, the United States will unleash a powerful response, targeting the South Pars field in a way Iran has never experienced.”

Republicans Halt Move to Restrict Trump’s Military Authority on Iran

Trump also emphasized that he didn’t wish to initiate such drastic measures, yet he was prepared to do so if necessary. “We want to avoid this level of violence and its long-term impacts on Iran, but we will act if Qatar’s LNG comes under attack again,” he asserted.

This declaration comes amid the ongoing U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran, which has now entered its third week.

Former Counterterrorism Chief Resigns Over Conflict

Just this week, Joe Kent stepped down from his position as director of the National Counterterrorism Center, citing his opposition to the war. “Iran isn’t an imminent threat to our nation, and it’s clear this conflict began due to pressure from Israel and its influential American supporters,” Kent stated in his resignation letter.

Investigation Launched Against Joe Kent

Earlier, Trump welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to his Palm Beach club, reinforcing their alliance. In contrast, Kent’s resignation was met with some relief from critics, who argue he was right to highlight that Iran should not be seen as a direct threat. However, views on this subject remain sharply divided.
