Postal Worker Arrested for Assaulting Young Boy

A postal worker from Rockland County has been taken into custody after allegedly pushing a 4-year-old Jewish boy to the ground in a frightening incident that was recorded on video.

According to security footage acquired by Monsey Scoop, the incident occurred Thursday evening. The 39-year-old USPS employee was seen violently shoving the young boy as he approached a parked mail truck.

The footage revealed the child gently patting the worker’s back before the worker reversed and forcefully pushed him onto the sidewalk. Following the push, the postal worker retrieved his yarmulke, which had fallen off during the incident, and left the scene.

Reportedly, before the assault, the worker yelled at nearby children.

The Ramapo Police Department announced that the postal worker, identified only as a Stony Point resident, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and attempted third-degree assault, both misdemeanors, after being handcuffed on Friday.

This incident has generated significant outrage among leaders in the Hasidic and Orthodox Jewish communities, who condemned the attack and praised law enforcement for their prompt response.

Ramapo City Supervisor Michael Schuscht expressed his concern, stating, “I saw a video depicting an incident involving a physical attack on a young child.” He added that the police are treating the matter very seriously.

State Representative Aaron Wieder described the assault as “appalling and extremely worrying,” reflecting the sentiments of many constituents alarmed by the attack on a child.

State Senator Bill Weber echoed these concerns, advocating for severe legal repercussions for the worker involved. “I have heard from constituents who are deeply disturbed by the assault of a young child in Town of Ramapo. I share their concern and anger,” he noted.

According to police, the suspect has since been released and will appear in court again at a later date. The USPS did not provide an immediate comment on the situation.
