Rubio Discusses Iran Conflict and Ballistic Missile Capabilities

On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the U.S. is nearing the “finish line” regarding its ongoing conflict with Iran and expressed concerns that Iran is moving towards becoming a version of North Korea.

During an appearance on “Hannity,” Rubio highlighted that Iran is developing intercontinental missiles that could target the U.S. He suggested that this goal might have been achieved if not for President Trump’s “Operation Epic Fury.”

He commented, “They were aiming to become the next North Korea, but instead of the chaotic regime there, it would be a radical Shiite-led Iran capable of reaching the U.S. mainland.” He emphasized the significance of the steps taken by President Trump in preventing this outcome.

Rubio also accused Iranian officials of misleading the public regarding their missile capabilities, pointing to recent statements from officials who denied that Iran’s missiles could reach major cities like London. “This man is a liar,” he remarked, referring to Iranian Foreign Affairs Secretary Abbas Araguchi, who had made these claims on television.

Recently, President Trump suggested that the conflict with Iran could conclude in a few weeks, coinciding with the approaching deadline for Operation Epic Fury on the 33rd, a sentiment that Rubio echoed by saying that the end is indeed approaching.

“The finish line is in sight,” he mentioned, though he acknowledges that it might not be immediate. He pointed out that while the Iranian leadership has publicly maintained a defiant stance, they have been more cooperative behind closed doors in negotiations.

Rubio asserted that President Trump would not allow the administration to be “strained” as the Biden administration has been, indicating a more resolute approach to negotiations without yielding to delays tactics.

He also remarked on the possible changing dynamics within NATO, suggesting that, depending on the outcome of the conflict with Iran, the U.S. might need to reassess its role in the alliance. “We have to evaluate if this alliance is still beneficial or if it has become one-sided,” he said, expressing concerns about the lack of support from allies when needed.

In the broader context, Rubio described Iran’s leadership as driven by a destructive ideology. He warned, “This administration is composed of individuals who believe their purpose is to bring about apocalyptic change. They are pursuing nuclear capabilities.”

As tensions continue, President Trump is expected to address the nation Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET regarding the current situation with Iran.
