Kamala Harris Critiques Trump’s Iran Speech Without Watching
Former Vice President Kamala Harris faced backlash from critics on Wednesday night after she chastised President Trump’s speech regarding Iran, a speech she admitted she didn’t even watch.
In a video shared on X before Trump’s address, Harris hinted that the president might declare “victory” concerning Iran but stressed that “the reality is, we’re watching what he does, not listening to what he says.”
“He brought America into a war that people didn’t want, he put our military at risk, costs are rising every day, and he did nothing to address the needs of the American people,” Harris stated in her 30-second video.
She also mentioned her intent to skip watching the speech entirely.
This video quickly became a target for conservatives who criticized the Biden administration.
Mark Meadows, Trump’s former chief of staff, suggested that Harris’s lukewarm critique stemmed from her political ambitions to run for president again.
Republican Representative Tom Emmer applauded President Trump for exhibiting “courage,” which he argued was largely missing from the current administration.
“It’s pretty disgraceful to claim that President Trump is doing nothing to meet the needs of the American people. The truth is, he’s cleaning up the mess that has been made here and abroad, making America great again,” Emmer noted.
Radio host Larry O’Connor added simply, “A bullet dodged.”
As Harris criticized the audience’s discontent, others expressed their regret about “what could have been these last four years.”
White House press secretary Anna Kelly suggested in a statement that Harris should “listen to the overwhelming majority of Americans who want her to crawl under the palm trees and leave.”
President Trump’s address aired across all major news networks that evening. In his brief speech, he claimed that Iran had been nearly “eviscerated” during the current military operation.
He also warned of further attacks in the weeks ahead that would send Iran “back to the Stone Age, where they belong.”
