Tiger Woods Arrested Following Impairment Tests
Tiger Woods was handcuffed last week after undergoing a lengthy breathalyzer test. Initially, officials reported that he recorded a “triple zero” on the breathalyzer, but they chose to conduct further tests due to observed signs of impairment, including his lethargic movements.
Before the field sobriety test, Woods informed authorities about his health issues, mentioning he had undergone “seven back surgeries” along with “over 20 surgeries on his legs.” This was particularly relevant since his serious accident in 2021 resulted in significant leg injuries that kept him off the golf course for about a year.
He further explained that his ankle is fused, which causes him to walk with a limp. Given these circumstances, the officers had him perform some exercises while seated. One of the initial tasks required him to follow his fingers with his eyes, though he seemed to struggle with that. There were other complicated tasks too—like bringing his fingertips to his nose and alternating clapping between the palm and back of his hands while counting.
After completing these exercises, a deputy instructed Woods to turn and place his hands behind his back, leading to his arrest.
This incident marks Woods’ second drunk driving arrest; he faced similar circumstances back in 2017. Following his recent arrest, Woods stated that he plans to “seek treatment” and will temporarily step away from the golf course to focus on his health.
In his statement on social media, Woods acknowledged the seriousness of his situation. He mentioned, “I am taking a period of time off to receive treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order to prioritize my health and work towards a lasting recovery.”
Woods concluded by expressing his commitment to taking the necessary time to return to a better state both personally and professionally, and he requested privacy for himself and his family during this time.
