JD FOSTER: A Harsh Reality Check is the Only Solution for the Political IRS

When patients display a consistent pattern of psychosis, it often calls for a label. For today’s Democrats, let’s refer to this as “Inconvenient Reality Syndrome” (IRS).

Take the recent “No King” demonstrations. While the left asserts that former President Donald Trump exhibits authoritarian tendencies, they conveniently overlook President Joe Biden’s actions that seem to bypass the law. This includes his political stance on student loan forgiveness and open-border policies. So, is it ‘King Joe’ we’re looking at?

Biden’s tendency toward monarch-like behavior has grown more apparent. It’s no surprise that the term “law” gained traction during his term, especially as he targeted Trump with questionable legal accusations.

Despite their fervent opposition to Trump, the left’s behavior doesn’t quite match their claims. It’s peculiar that Biden would don costumes demanding the release of the Epstein files while neglecting them for four years. The same goes for his playful signs like “Science” and “Democracy.”

Do these protesters represent more than just resistance to Trump? The signs leave us questioning that.

A key indicator of IRS is the tendency to shift blame. Consider Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. He recently pointed fingers at Trump after an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela shot a Loyola University student, Sheridan Gorman.

Undocumented immigrants caught by Border Patrol and then released under Biden’s policies ended up in Chicago, a sanctuary city where ICE faces pushback. Pritzker seemed to acknowledge the severity of the situation while blaming Gorman’s death on Trump for not being harsher on immigration enforcement.

Then there’s California Governor Gavin Newsom, attributing rising gas prices to Trump. “Just look at the recent costs at the pump,” he claimed, deflecting all responsibility. His rationale was based on the notion that these prices were due to the previous administration.

In reality, California’s gas prices have been among the highest long before any conflict arose. Recently, while the national average stood at $2.99 per gallon, California’s was a staggering $4.65. It seems like a typical “Newsom surcharge.” Regardless of oil prices, Californians are saddled with this levy.

The situation could worsen as Newsom drives out refineries, leaving California dependent on costly tanker imports. Even astute Gavin seems unable to clarify why this is categorized as ‘green.’

Speaking of political struggles, New York Governor Kathy Hochul recently made a small stand against IRS. With many wealthy New Yorkers leaving due to high taxes, she suggested finding ways to attract them back—”Come to Palm Beach and see who we can bring home,” she remarked. Good luck with that.

Michelle Obama, reflecting on why Democrats haven’t succeeded more often with female candidates, cited IRS as an example. “There’s a lot of growing up to do,” she said, indicating that too many men don’t feel led by women.

Let’s analyze this: Black individuals—whether solely or in combination with other races—constitute about 15% of the population. Yet the left considers America irredeemably racist, despite it having elected Michelle’s husband, a Black man, as president twice. More than half the population is female, but according to Michelle, we still don’t elect women. It’s odd.

Her comments seemed crafted to resonate within a leftist bubble. If we rely solely on such narratives, we would have to confront the uncomfortable truth that Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris were simply not seen as strong candidates. Trump bested a weaker opponent.

If you think back, Clinton’s loss can be attributed to widespread familiarity—many were hesitant to support her due to past decisions during the campaign. As for Harris, the Democratic establishment waited too long to back her, leaving her without enough momentum to recover.

It’s essential not to confuse Inconvenient Reality Syndrome with Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). They do coexist, but they aren’t the same. IRS often reveals internal failures through a pattern of blaming others. On the other hand, TDS reacts outwardly, where any action from Trump is met with visceral anger.

Historically, some Democrats have contended with IRS, while others have actively resisted it. But it seems that the opposition is thinning, increasingly pressured by the remaining TDS faction. Unfortunately, neither distancing measures nor protective gear can shield anyone from IRS or TDS.
