Army Secretary Compares Air Rescue to Easter

Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth recently likened the rescue of an Air Force officer shot down in Iran on Good Friday to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

During a press conference with President Donald Trump, Hegseth discussed the Easter weekend operation, detailing how the pilot managed to evade capture for over a day by scaling a steep ridge while under enemy pursuit.

“When he was finally able to activate his emergency transponder, his first message was simple but powerful. He sent a message: ‘God is good,'” Hegseth recounted. “In a moment of isolation and danger, his faith and fighting spirit shone through.”

He went on to describe the pilot’s ordeal as a spiritual journey for all involved.

Trump Highlights Air Rescue Mission

“You know, it was shot down on Friday, Good Friday, it was hidden in a cave, in a crevice all Saturday, and it was rescued on Sunday,” Hegseth said. “As the sun rose on Easter Sunday, the plane took off from Iran and the pilots were born again. They all came home and fulfilled their responsibilities. The people are rejoicing. God is good.”

In the same press briefing, President Trump expressed gratitude to God for the successful operation, declaring that “God was watching us.”

Details of the Incident

On that fateful Friday, Iran shot down an F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet. The pilot and weapons systems officer ejected, with immediate rescue efforts initiated. Remarkably, the pilot was saved the same day.

As the Iranian government acknowledged the U.S. incident, they released images online. Meanwhile, the weapons systems officer managed to evade capture by hiding in a mountain crevice. He climbed 7,000 feet to reach safety but remained unrescued for almost two days until a coordinated effort involving 155 aircraft brought him to safety.

“No American lives were lost,” Hegseth affirmed. “We will leave no one behind. And it’s not just luck; it’s the result of unmatched training, advanced technology, and an unwavering warrior spirit. Our personnel executed their roles nearly flawlessly under duress.”

Hegseth concluded, “Ask any Iranian soldier who dared to approach that pilot before or during that mission. Death from above. Our military transformed a possible tragedy into a powerful demonstration of American resolve and capability.”
