Advisor to the crown prince cautions that the Iran agreement might serve as a crucial support for the regime

Iran’s Regime Faces Potential Lifeline, Experts Suggest

Cameron Kansarinia, who works with the exiled crown prince Reza Pahlavi, recently shared his thoughts on the situation in Iran. Appearing on “Sunday Morning Futures,” he pointed out that while President Trump’s “maximum pressure” approach, coupled with military actions, has weakened the Iranian regime, there remains a notable skepticism among the Iranian populace regarding Tehran’s capacity to honor any long-term peace agreements.

Kansarinia voiced concerns on Sunday about a potential peace deal between President Trump and the Iranian leadership, suggesting it could serve as a “lifeline” for the regime. He emphasized that, regardless, the current leadership is unlikely to uphold such an agreement.

During the broadcast, he condemned the history of oppression perpetrated by the Islamic Republic and its associated militant groups. “Honestly, people we connect with daily are anxious. They fear that this regime, which has held them captive for almost five decades, might find another way to survive,” he remarked.

Kansarinia asserted that Iranians are determined to fight for their freedom and indicated that any treaty negotiated by what he called the “criminal regime” would be inherently unjust, as the Iranian people have not accepted their leadership. “You’ll want to look closely at the specifics of any deal,” he noted, adding, “but it’s critical to recognize that this administration may not follow through on its promises.”

Meanwhile, President Trump conveyed optimism about the ongoing negotiations with Iran, describing them as “orderly and constructive.” Yet, he reiterated a firm stance: unless a detailed agreement is achieved and formally authorized, sanctions will remain firmly in place. “Both parties need to be thorough and precise. Mistakes aren’t an option!” he wrote on Truth Social, reaffirming his aim to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Trump’s optimistic perspective emerged even as a senior official hinted that the U.S. might be open to making significant concessions on sanctions if Iranian officials show willingness to provide similar concessions regarding their enriched uranium capabilities.

Kansarinia, however, suggested a need for critical reflection on the future of the region, questioning whether the real aim should be enabling the Iranian populace to reclaim their country or entering a deal that is widely perceived—by both Iranian and American sides—as doomed to be violated by the regime.
