Suspect in Missouri Teen Murder in Immigration Custody

An 18-year-old suspect, Efri Arcaga, is currently in immigration custody following charges linked to the murder of a 15-year-old boy, Miles Young, in Missouri. Prosecutors claim Arcaga played a crucial role in luring Young into a deadly trap, where he reportedly pleaded for his life.

Charged with first-degree murder, Arcaga was arrested after the incident that took place on March 12 in Greene County. He remains detained without bail, and federal immigration authorities have placed a hold on him. Another suspect, Praise King, also 18, faces similar charges, including first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Details from court documents indicate that the attack was premeditated. Arcaga allegedly orchestrated the ambush, deceiving Young into thinking he was going to meet a girl. Instead, it appears that multiple individuals were involved in the setup. Young was led to believe he was in a safe situation, despite warnings suggesting otherwise.

Authorities further revealed that the group was seen planning the act while driving around Springfield and eventually used two vehicles to track down Young. When they located him, he attempted to flee.

Witnesses reported that Arcaga, wearing a ski mask and carrying a handgun, chased Young before the fatal shooting. According to testimonies, as Young ran, he cried out, “I don’t want to die,” before shots rang out. He was later found wounded and succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

Some informants suggested that Young may have been targeted due to a prior altercation and mentioned that he was set to testify in a murder case scheduled for 2025.

Following the shooting, Arcaga fled the scene and, after a two-week manhunt, was apprehended on March 31. He is expected to appear in court on April 13. Reports indicate that there might be another suspect who is a juvenile, though their identity remains undisclosed.

This tragic event has left a significant impact on Young’s family and the community. His family described him as a caring and vibrant individual who brought joy to those around him. They expressed their grief, emphasizing that no parent should have to bury their child.

The investigation continues as authorities seek justice for Miles Young.
