The Islamic Republic of Iran executed two men in connection with a military facility attack in January, a report from Iran’s judicial Mizan news agency indicated on Sunday. The individuals, identified as Mohammad Amin Biglari and Shahin Vahedparast Korol, were hanged on April 5, as reported by the human rights organization, Human Rights in Iran.
Biglari, 19, and Korol, 30, both students of computer science, were among those arrested during a crackdown on protests in Tehran on January 8. They faced serious charges including “enmity against God,” corruption on earth, arson, and conspiracy against national security, according to the Hengo Human Rights Group.
Additionally, another arrest from that day, 18-year-old Amirhossein Khatami, was hanged on April 2, as noted by Human Rights in Iran, citing the Mizan News Agency. Ali Fahim, 23, arrested on the same day, was executed on April 6, with confirmation from the Mizan news agency.
Mahmoud Amiri Moghaddam, head of Iran’s Human Rights Bureau, commented that these executions reflect the Islamic Republic’s strategy for survival, indicating the regime’s repressive tactics against its citizens amid ongoing external conflicts. He urged the international community to act urgently, highlighting the regime’s systematic use of the death penalty as a political tool that should be addressed in negotiations.
These developments come amidst escalating tensions as the United States and Israel remain in conflict with Iran.
In a related note, President Donald Trump made strong statements on Sunday about targeting Iran’s infrastructure, particularly its power plants and bridges. He demanded that Iran open the Strait of Hormuz and issued a stark ultimatum: “Tuesday is Power Plant Day and Bridge Day rolled into one in Iran. There’s no better day than this!!! Open the straits, you crazy bastards, or you’ll live in hell – look! Praise be to Allah,” he declared.
