Missing UK woman who disappeared during solo trip to California after meeting a man has been located safely.

An intense international investigation by both the UK and US has just wrapped up.

A 21-year-old British tourist, who vanished after encountering a man at an airport while traveling alone in California, has been located alive, according to authorities.

Katherine Gamboa Curwood was found on Tuesday and reported safe. The San Francisco Police Department brought relief to her family after nearly a week of worries that had escalated.

Authorities mentioned she was in “healthy condition” and ruled out any criminal activity, but they did not provide details about her whereabouts or the reasons for her disappearance.

Upon her arrival at San Francisco International Airport on March 31, she was captured on surveillance meeting a man who had flowers. Her family learned that she had previously met this man, only referred to as “David,” in the UK.

Her travels were supposed to include stops in Sacramento, Calaveras Big Trees State Park, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz, according to her family.

Concerns intensified when Curwood mentioned staying at a hostel in Sacramento, yet family discovered she had never checked in. The last communication from her was a text on April 3rd.

Friends noted her silence as very unusual, sparking fears that something was amiss.

Ms. Curwood was meant to return to London on April 8, but missing her flight led to a response from both US and UK officials. She eventually resurfaced, responding to safety inquiries; however, numerous questions about her time away, including her location and companions, remain unanswered.
