Trump Claims Iran Has Agreed to U.S. Demands
On Friday, President Trump announced that Iran has “agreed to everything” during the ongoing negotiations with the United States. This remark came after a significant morning, which included the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
In a conversation with NewsNation’s Kelly Meyer, Trump mentioned that the U.S. plans to reclaim enriched uranium from locations that were targeted during Operation Midnight Hammer last June.
When Meyer inquired about whether Iran would agree to cease uranium enrichment, Trump confirmed, “Yes.” He emphasized, “They agreed to everything.” Following this statement, when pressed about his level of surprise, he responded simply with “Nothing,” before abruptly ending the call.
Last week in Islamabad, during discussions, the Iranian government did not accept six crucial stipulations laid out by the U.S. delegation, which included Vice President J.D. Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner.
According to U.S. officials, these stipulations involved allowing the recovery of highly enriched uranium, dismantling major nuclear enrichment facilities, halting all uranium enrichment, establishing a broader peace and security framework with regional allies, fully opening the Strait of Hormuz without tolls, and ceasing financial support for terrorist groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.
After considerable reflection, Vance departed following Iran’s final offer, which he believed could potentially benefit both parties. “We leave here with a very simple proposal, and that’s how we perceive it to be our final and best offer. We’ll see if the Iranians accept it,” Vance stated before leaving.
Trump, who previously enforced a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, highlighted the agreement concerning this strategic waterway in a social media post.
“While the Strait of Hormuz is fully open and ready for traffic and navigation, the naval blockade will remain in place concerning Iran until the transaction is 100% finalized,” he wrote.
He expressed optimism for a quick resolution, as many issues have already been addressed. Trump also pointed out that Iran had removed mines from the strait, assured that it would not close the strait again, and clarified that the deal isn’t related to Lebanon.
In his messages, he extended gratitude towards Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar for their roles in facilitating these discussions.
