Stephen King Criticizes Trump's Request to Dismiss Jimmy Kimmel: 'People in Glass Houses Shouldn't Throw Stones'

Stephen King Responds to Trump’s Comments on Jimmy Kimmel

Author Stephen King reacted to President Trump’s call for the firing of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, stating, “You shouldn’t be throwing shit.” His critique of the president was shared on X, where he recalled Trump expressing pleasure at Robert Mueller’s death and his son’s mocking of director Rob Reiner.

King commented, “Melania Trump thinks Jimmy Kimmel should be canceled. Just last week, her husband said about Robert Mueller’s death, ‘I’m glad he’s dead.’ I said something similar about my old friend Rob Reiner. People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw poop.”

On Trump’s Truth Social account, he expressed his satisfaction over Mueller’s passing, stating, “I’m glad he’s dead. He can’t hurt innocent people anymore!” Following a joke by Kimmel regarding Reiner, Trump stated that he heard Reiner died “of the anger he stirred in others due to a debilitating condition known as Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Recently, the president and first lady urged ABC to dismiss Kimmel for joking about Trump’s demise and referring to Melania as a “widow” during a parody of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Trump remarked on Truth Social, “Jimmy Kimmel, who is not funny as indicated by his poor TV ratings, made some truly shocking remarks on his show.” He accused Kimmel of showing a fake video that tricked viewers into thinking Melania and their son Barron were in the studio, emphasizing the serious nature of Kimmel’s “despicable calls for violence.”

Kimmel defended himself, claiming it was merely a “light joke.” He explained, “It was a very light joke about the fact that he’s almost 80 years old and she’s younger than me. It wasn’t a call to assassination at all. I’ve been an advocate against gun violence for years. I recognize the stress the first lady faces, especially weekends like that.” He also agreed on the importance of rejecting hateful rhetoric.

Last Saturday, a 31-year-old man named Cole Allen allegedly targeted Trump and several cabinet members during the dinner. He traveled from Torrance, armed with a shotgun and knives, and attempted to approach a security checkpoint before being apprehended by authorities. Shots were fired by the Secret Service during the incident, with one agent’s life saved by a bulletproof vest.

At a press conference afterward, President Trump, who has survived previous assassination attempts, urged Americans to address their differences through peaceful means, stating, “I ask all Americans to recommit to resolving our differences peacefully.” He emphasized the importance of unity, mentioning the diverse crowd present at the event and expressing his appreciation for the love and unity he observed.
