Democratic Representative Jerry Nadler from New York is amplifying his criticism of President Donald Trump, labeling him the “ringleader of America’s insurrection” shortly after a recent assassination attempt.
This week, Nadler leaned into controversial claims while pushing for legislation that would prohibit Trump’s name from being displayed on federal buildings.
Nadler stated, “Donald Trump is a convicted felon, he’s been impeached twice, and he is the architect of America’s insurrection.” He argued that having Trump’s name on federal structures would be akin to promoting “tyranny.”
“His name doesn’t deserve to adorn our nation’s architecture. I’m proud to introduce this bill to stop Donald Trump from using taxpayer-funded buildings for his personal vanity projects. New Yorkers deserve public spaces they can take pride in, not monuments to tyranny and corruption,” the Democrat added.
A video shared alongside his remarks on X featured various headline snippets regarding the matter, including one from a notable publication that stated, “Dear Leader Trump’s insistence on having his name front and center lends him the aura of a dictator.”
Nadler’s announcement came just two days following the assassination attempt on Trump. The suspect, Cole Allen, a teacher from California, expressed a desire to be an assassin, showcasing anti-Trump sentiments in his manifesto. One portion read: “If absolutely necessary, I would reach my goal through almost everyone here (since most of them *choose* to attend the speeches of pedophiles, rapists, and traitors, and are therefore accomplices), but I sincerely hope that will not be the case.”
“I will no longer allow pedophiles, rapists, and traitors to paint my hands with their crimes,” he allegedly wrote. Despite the existence of the manifesto, former President Barack Obama noted that the motives of the would-be assassin were still unclear.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt stated during a Monday press conference that “Multiple individuals have been hurt and even killed by a left-wing hate cult targeting the President and his supporters, and it nearly happened again this weekend.”
She continued, “Consider how different this attempted assassination rhetoric is from what you encounter daily on social media and in various forums. If you’re honest, you’d realize it’s not different at all. Many of these would-be assassin manifestos sound remarkably similar to the rhetoric we hear every day.”

The Justice Department officially charged Allen on Monday with the attempted assassination of Trump.
