Thieves in California brazenly stole a bass boat from its owner’s driveway during the day, but their luck quickly turned when the owner managed to recover it on his own.
A Stryker bass boat and its trailer were taken from a home in Fresno last week, close to Polk and Cornelia streets.
Surveillance footage captured two masked individuals backing their truck into the driveway, attaching the boat, and driving off with it.
However, their brief moment of triumph didn’t last. Local residents, who had recognized the stolen boat, tipped off the owners.
After confirming that the boat was indeed stolen, located at Westwood Apartments near Shields and Valentine streets, the owners called the police. They initially waited for officers to arrive, but eventually took action themselves. They loaded the boat and headed home.
“We felt so violated,” the owners expressed. “But now we stole it and got the last laugh!”
