Las Vegas Man Charged with Double Murder
A man from Las Vegas has been charged with double murder after allegedly shooting his ex-wife and her current husband at their workplace on Tuesday.
Authorities report that Alejandro Estrada, 43, entered the Smith’s grocery store where the victims worked and opened fire. He was subdued by customers in the store until police arrived.
The two victims, Amanda Rosas and Victor Frias Rosas, were declared dead at the scene.
Amanda had married Victor last year, but she and Estrada were involved in a heated custody dispute regarding their two children, aged 12 and 9. Reports indicate that Estrada owes over $2,800 in child support.
Estrada was reportedly armed with multiple weapons during the incident and now faces 12 charges, including two counts of murder.
Witness Paula Milton described Estrada as calm and expressionless, stating, “I knew it was him because everyone else was running and screaming, but he didn’t seem like a big deal,” as reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal.
This tragic event occurred just days after police arrested a high school student for the suspected murder of a homeless woman.
The student, identified as Dennis Geiger, has a history of behavioral issues and was arrested after the body of 61-year-old Marceline Biasini was discovered on April 21, following a suspicious encounter captured on surveillance video.
Geiger had been expelled from his school for attempting to start a fire and had a record of anger-related incidents, including breaking inanimate objects.
This series of events raises questions about safety in the community and the struggles faced by families in crisis.
