Gavin Newsom's conflict with President Trump intensifies over California 'zombie' allegation

The feud between President Donald Trump and California Governor Gavin Newsom reignited on Sunday, fueled by a recent social media post that featured a zombie-themed portrayal of the governor.

Trump’s post garnered attention for sharing an image of a mock California license plate that read “NEW-SCM,” with Newsom depicted in a zombie-like appearance. The post received upwards of 135,000 views, especially after Newsom’s team shared it with a caption that remarked, “Even on zombie news cams, he still looks healthier than our current president. #prayerforgrandpa.”

This exchange was sparked by Newsom’s earlier social media post that depicted Trump alongside security guards beside a chained, alien-like figure. The accompanying caption asked, “The President of the United States just posted this. Do you think he lost this?”

This online back-and-forth represents the latest chapter in a lengthy verbal battle between the two political figures.

In January, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump labeled Newsom a “lame duck” who would “make a mockery of himself” globally. He accused Newsom of seeking international recognition while California struggles with crime, drought, and wildfires.

Trump further suggested, “He should focus on completing one of the greatest public disasters in history, the horrifying ‘over budget and behind schedule’ rail line from San Francisco to Los Angeles, and stopping street crime in California’s cities. Then finish his term and go home!”

The White House previously criticized Newsom for undermining America on the world stage, urging him to concentrate on fixing issues within his own state.

On the other hand, Newsom has been consistently responding to Trump’s claims about California with fierce retorts, with media outlets branding Trump an “insane and habitual liar,” even poking fun at him for trivial matters.

The animosity between them appears to be escalating, particularly as Newsom is potentially positioning himself for a presidential run, leading both to trade more personal barbs.
