Trump Critiques Media Coverage on Iran

President Donald Trump unleashed a tirade against mainstream media on Monday, asserting that news organizations would still claim a victory for Iran even if the country surrendered.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his frustration:

If Iran were to concede, fully acknowledge that its navy is at the bottom of the sea, admit its air force is no more, and the entire military exits Tehran, dropping their weapons, raising white flags, and shouting “surrender,” the mainstream media would cover it as Iran’s stunning triumph over the U.S., albeit with some caveats. The Democrats and the media have completely lost their way; it’s chaos!

This statement followed a recent dispute with David Sanger, a Washington correspondent for a prominent newspaper, who was on Air Force One returning from China.

Sanger questioned Trump about the ongoing bombardment in Iran, asking, “What’s the point of bombing repeatedly? You’ve struck for 38 days without grasping the political shifts there?” Trump quickly interrupted, defending his administration’s actions.

“I achieved a complete military victory, yet fake news outlets, including you, report it inaccurately. We annihilated their navy, air force, and all anti-aircraft systems,” Trump asserted. “We took out key leaders at all levels, and they’re left bewildered. We secured a total victory, but people like you refuse to acknowledge it,” he added.

He then made a rather strong statement, implying that such reporting borders on treason, specifically criticizing CNN for its coverage.
